Be on eye level with your players

When you are coaching players ages 5-8 years old, it is vital to be on eye level as often as possible. You are the youth coach and, at times, can come across as physically intimidating to the child. Being on eye level with your players means being on one knee or sitting in a chair while getting your message across.

This builds trust and a sense of ease, plus the message you’re trying to convey will become easier to understand. So often we see bigger coaches standing over players and kids losing confidence. Make sure you establish a level field when communicating, creating a sense of comfort to relate and teach.
